“Welcome to The Droner, experimental noise & drone station for iPad.
You can listen to a sample I made myself with it here :
http://soundcloud.com/protofuse/the-noise-station-for-ipad

In the help, you can see the routing schematics of the synthesizer.
Be careful, you don’t have a classic or a regular machine in your hands.
Indeed, it can produces very unique and strange sounds textures and you have to learn to handle it.

It contains a very strange multiple-tones generator and a noise unit.
Both are independent and are mixed to the sound output.
You can use one, or both at the same time.

You have to use it with earphones or to use a line input on your
sound-system in order to render the best results.

You can record while playing with it.
The PCM file will be saved in the document folder of The Droner application on your iPad.
You use iTunes to manage the files in this folder to backup them on your computer, or remove them.”

“Here’s my cover of Joe Satriani’s classic done entirely on iPad Garageband and the new features from the 1.2 update. All played instruments are native to the app.

The added features like the note editor and within song key change expands the usability of this app greatly. Now, you have access to the guitar’s whole range by transposing notes which made this cover possible. This song has a major to minor key change so this was almost impossible with the old version of GB.

It is now viable to play any guitar part but it requires a bit of editing work as you could see on this video. Most of the edits I did on the guitar track are for the vibrato and the octave transpositions. It is hard to get a consistent vibrato in real time because of the touchscreen. Also, although I’m playing along in this video, the actual guitar track was recorded in parts and some tricks were used. The video is just to give you an idea where the notes are and how I played them.

Key is B Major/ Minor
Time Sig: 3/4
Tempo: 147 BPM
Scales used: None, B Major, B Minor, B Pentatonic Major
Main Guitar Sound: Hard Rock with Vintage Drive
2nd Guitar: Roots Rock with Hi-Drive and muted (Finger on the “Nut”)
Picked Bass
Acoustic Guitar
Organic Bells
Classic Drum Machine
Large Hall Reverb
Ambient Delay

I hope this will give you ideas for your iPad GarageBand noodlings.”

“Got three minutes and want to make some music?

Figure is the fun music-making app for instant inspiration.

Create an addictive beat before the next bus stop or lay down a beefy bass line while waiting in line at the bank. Figure will have you making music within seconds yet is deep enough for endless play on a transatlantic flight.

Figure highlights;
• Make songs with Drums, Bass and Lead Synth
• Play by sliding your finger across the play pad
• Always stay in key and on the beat
• No previous playing skills required
• Tweak and twist your track on the fly
• Sounding amazing has never been this easy
• The sound of Reason on your phone!

Truly designed for mobile user on the go, Figure gives you drums, bass and lead synth, controlled by an incredibly easy to use touch interface that gets you sounding great literally in seconds. Slide your finger across the play pad and hear your bass line play. Tweak the Rhythm, Range and Scale Step wheels to get the result you’re after. Programming drumbeats is just as easy. Set the rhythm and play the drums with your fingers. You won’t want to stop. You won’t believe how amazing you and your phone can sound.

If you are new to music making, getting started making great sounding tracks has never been this easy — and sounded so great!

If you are a seasoned musician – music creation has never been this fun!

The nitty gritty details:
• Bass & lead parts use Reason’s Thor synthesizer
• Drums powered by Reason’s Kong drum machine
• Play in different keys & modes. Set once or change on the fly.
• Increase the Shuffle to loosen up your beats
• Turn up Pump to add a club sound to your tracks
• Adjust levels using Propellerhead’s legendary mixer

** Requirements: works on iPhone 4 or higher, not recommended for iPhone 3GS”

Waldorf iPad Synthesizer
“A long tradition of wavetable synthesis – from first PPG synthesizers to the latest developments in terms of Blofeld and Largo – and Rolf Wöhrmann’s (TempoRubatos) vast experience with the iPad synthesis made it only natural to come up with a wavetable concept for the iPad, which, as a mobile platform, is becoming increasingly more significant to professional and semi-professional musicians and producers.

Thanks to intelligent gesture recognition and plenty of available graphic performance the iPad is perfect for bringing wavetable synthesis to a new level. For the first time it will be possible to plunge into the depths of wavetables and to make their sound content visible with advanced 3-D technology. The cooperation between Waldorf and TempoRubato, also known for their product line NLog Synth, doesn’t stop here: The application will also offer new possibilities for sound manipulation based on Waldorf’s very latest spectral research.

Completely new and unheard sounds
An innovative approach to wavetable synthesis allows for the transposition of the spectrum and the balance of periodic and sound spectra entirely independent from a wave’s position. The existing wavetable technology is thereby extended by two new dimensions, and it allows for formant shifts as well as numerous other unheard sounds. Also, unlike with typical wavetable instruments, the number and length of waves in a wavetable will no longer be restricted. It’s the era of wavetable synthesis V2.0! This app will support a huge number of hardware MIDI interfaces, e. g. all Core MIDI compatible interfaces by IK Multimedia, iConnectMIDI, MIDI Mobilizer II by Line6, ioDock or the Camera Connection Kit by Apple, as well as proprietary interfaces such as the SynthStation by Akai. App collaboration standards like Sonoma‘s Audio Copy/Paste, Intua‘s Audio Pasteboard and Virtual Core MIDI will also be supported like the upcoming AudioBus standard and KORG’s WIST synchronization technology.

Joachim Flor, executive manager at Waldorf Music GmbH is pleased: “We are truly excited about our collaboration with Rolf Wöhrmann from TempoRubato. Considering his great experience with the iPad synthesis we are planning to release this excellent synthesiser this summer. Then it will be available at the Apple App Store. It’s going to be an exciting time!“

Rolf Wöhrmann is also looking forward to the challenge: “The cooperation with Waldorf Music and the Waldorf developers is a great honour. Waldorf‘s long history in wave table synthesis and the new and innovative possibilities of the iPad will create an astonishing synthesizer for musicians, sound designers and producers.”

Available Summer 2012. More info: http://www.waldorfmusic.de/

“Now, for the first time ever, you can mix and record up to four channels of audio into your iPad.

The Alesis iO Mix is the first device that turns your iPad into a powerful portable studio, allowing you to record multiple mics or instruments directly into GarageBand or any other compatible Core Audio app.

With the iO Dock, Alesis was the first to make your iPad studio-compatible. Now with the iO Mix, your iPad becomes your studio. All the connections you need are onboard, including four combo XLR-1/4″ input channels and balanced, stereo 1/4″ outputs. The iO Mix also has a video output, making it perfect for everything from presentations and corporate meetings to home entertainment and live performance visuals.

ROOM FOR FOUR
With the iO Mix’s four-channel capability you finally have everything you need for mixing and recording on your iPad, all in one device. There’s no more clunky dongle connections or USB cables needed. Your iPad is seamlessly integrated into a compact mixing console that will be immediately familiar and easy to use. When you close iO Mix’s hinged door, your iPad is completely enclosed and secure — you’ll hardly be able to tell that they’re separate devices.

CONNECT & CREATE
iO Mix allows you to connect virtually any piece of recording gear to your iPad: microphones, instruments, speakers, headphones and more. Four combo XLR-1/4″ input channels are exactly where you need them on the rear of the unit. Each has trim, channel gain, pan, and low & high EQ controls located right in front of you. Push-button High Pass Filters are also available on each channel to eliminate low-frequency interference in live mixing and recording situations.

STUDIO TO GO
With its compact design, iO Mix is the perfect portable studio. Bring it to your band’s practice space, coffeehouse gig or weekend recording session. Switchable 48V phantom power allows you to use studio condenser microphones and iO Mix’s guitar-direct switch makes guitar recording easy. You don’t even need an amp! Simply connect your guitar or bass, flip the switch and use your iPad to add effects like reverb and delay. Balanced, stereo 1/4″ outputs and 1/4″ headphone output are also onboard along with a switchable limiter for clip-free recordings.

WIRELESS WHENEVER
iO Mix is Core Audio-compliant, allowing you to use it with virtually any app in the App Store. Plus, your iPad’s WiFi, Bluetooth, AirPlay, and 3G connectivity, allow you to tailor your sound at a moment’s notice or playback audio through compatible wireless speakers. Download new effects or filters to deal with unexpected live sound needs, or download songs, videos or entirely new applications to keep your audience entertained during a gig or the band’s creative energy flowing during a recording session.

VIDEO VERSATILITY
Along with its four-channel mixing and recording capability, the iO Mix’ s ability to playback video makes it ideal for applications that were previously impossible. You can use the iO Mix to not only mix and record, but also playback live performance visuals behind the band. The iO Mix is also great for corporate presentations and business meetings, allowing up to four speakers to be mic’d and have video playing back simultaneously. With the optional Alesis Module Mount, you can attach the iO Mix to a nearby mic stand and have easy access to instantly adjust any mixing, recording or video-playback parameter.
